The average car consists of 12,000 individual parts – 80 per cent of them originate with suppliers like you. That is reason enough for all auto manufacturers to watch with eagle eyes over quality along the entire chain of supply. Besides the specific requirements of the OEMs (Original Equipment &Manufacturers), there is a common, internationally recognized basis: IATF 16949.
This is the technical specification for quality management for suppliers in the automotive industry and an absolute “must have” for any company seeking entry into this market. Beyond
IATF 16 949
that, IATF 16949 is an invaluable parameter for the optimization of cost, time, and resources. Get yourself certified by DQS according to this standard in order to make transparent the quality of your performance, and to secure your market position.
AUTOMOTIVE: GLOBAL MARKET. GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES.
As a quality management system, IATF 16949 has long become established. One of the reasons is formal in nature: the big car manufacturers have agreed to this standard under the umbrella of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and simply require certification to confirm implementation. No matter whether you are a small or medium enterprise or a large conglomerate, or if you seek to gain, maintain or expand market access – this certificate is your ticket for entry to the global automotive supply sector. And irrespective of your size and importance to the whole, as a certified company, you improve process capability and reliability throughout the entire value-added chain.
"QUALITY IS THE PRODUCT OF TECHNOLOGY AND MENTALITY"
This statement – a quote from the former Volkswagen manager, Professor Gerd Kamiske – summarizes the main focus of the standard. Because what matters most, besides technological competence, is the approach of an organization to the quality ideal. To discover improvements from many different perspectives, to prevent mistakes and to reduce waste are just some of the key words. In this, the DQS auditors play an active role. Beyond the certainty that the system conforms to the requirements of this Technical Specification, they convey decisive insights into the maturity level and development potential of your management system.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
Essentially, IATF 16949 is based on the process-oriented ISO 9001. However, the chronological sequence for the certification of a site is precisely mandated by the IATF. For example, Stage 1 of the audit process, the system analysis, must be performed within a specific time frame. The same applies to Stage 2, the closing report and deviation management. Re-certification also requires good time management to ensure continuous validity of the certificate. That is why we exercise utmost care in planning your schedule, and when organizing your transfer audit to DQS.
